Hello Princess. Went to Cozumel last in February '05 and stayed at the Hotel Cozumel (not to be confused with the El Cozumeleno) all-inclusive from Detroit for @$1400 each for 2 weeks. Although the resort only gets a 3 or 4 out of 5 star in the ratings, I found it to be excellent- especially if don't mind not really having a beach (there's a small man-made beach and a large pool area) and especially if you want good off shore snorkeling and diving. Some basic/cheap hotels on the water are the Hotel Barracuda and the Casa Del Mar (also stayed at the Casa Del Mar before and I would say it is probably a 2 star resort). There are many 4 and 5 star resorts on the island like Playa Azul ,Iberostar and I think El Cozumeleno but I'm not sure where you're coming from and what these other resorts would charge at the height of the winter tourist season. Not that I have personally gone this route but another option to consider with ten people is to rent a house/villa; I'm sure if you can find one (maybe even two) that accomodates all of you, you will save money over a resort and most of the villas offer different levels of service like if you want meals/drinks made and served to you at the villa or if you decide to go out, etc. I have a friend who has used one of the house rental services- I believe the website is www.cozumel-villas.com and similar sites are www.gocozumel.com and www.cozumelrentalvillas.com for you to consider. If you are looking for activity and dining selections on or near the island, please check out some of my other Cozumel answers or shoot me a message.

Just got back from Cozumel Stayed @ Occidental Allegro. We loved it and the activities were great. Allegro has the best beach and the food was better than average. We booked through Expedia . Cost for two w/ airfare for 6 days 1800.00 approximately. One xtra hint, book your rental cars through fiesta on-line first. Make sure you print out your quote and take it with you . They tried to charge more than quote but held to it once we produced the piece of paper. Also make sure you have passports.New regulations after DEC. 2006.

Here's a good travel agent. I just used her last week, and she got us a wonderful deal. Amy Johnson ,
