Buying or not buying will not prevent a loss if one would happen. SADLY there is no way to know that all will be perfect. I think it's better to just go along with thinking ALL is fine and the baby will come healthy and fine. It is a good ideal to get what you need early. Late in pregnancy you may be to tired and uncomfortable to spend a hour shoping. I have had a miscarriage but, I still started buying stuff for this new pregnancy about 8 weeks "AFTER we heard heartbeat via ultersound". Also I'm due December 30th it will be VERY hard to deal with the holidays and new baby shoping. We are getting things early because of that to. I will not want to go out in Cold weather and snow 8 or 9 months pregnant. It startes to snow here often at the end of October. We do need to already have things like diapers and clothes bedding I would want to go out in the WINTER with a newborn to get something we forgot. CONGRATS GOOD LUCK. Buy what you want as long as you can aford it, and relise you may not be able to return it should you "not need it." We took that risk no matter how my pregnancy goes I know we may have wasted $ on somethings I have no problems with that.

Congratulations!

I think that you should wait until you hit the 12 week mark to buy any of the bigger stuff, pram, car seat etc. However, it is fine to buy some of the inexpensive stuff now, such as a few clothes and blankets etc.

I'm not trying to scare you, but just because you have never had a miscarriage does not mean that you never will. Each time a woman becomes pregnant, before she hits the 12 week mark, she has a 20-25% (1 in 5) chance of having a miscarriage. If she has had an ultrasound that shows a normal and healthy baby before twelve weeks, her chance of having a miscarriage goes down to around 10%. After the twelve week mark however, her risk of having a miscarriage goes down to 3% or (3 in 100).

I've been working on a list for my own pregnancy at the moment, (I'm 16.5 weeks along), and I thought I'd share it with you.

People usually try to get passed the first 6months before buying anything in the event of a tragedy or miscarriage. I started buying baby thing when I was about 8 to 8 1/2 months along. I bought unisex (Yellow and Mint Green) onesies and socks along with the receiving blanket, 1 bag of newborn diapers ( if you have a baby bigger than the average 8 lb-er newborn will not fit), wet wipes, bibs, Looked at car seat, baby carriage or Prams, bought bottles if not breastfeeding, clothes diapers for spit-up, a nursing pillow to support baby whether you breast or bottle feed. They usually give a list that tells you when to have these things. Congrats!!!

I would wait a few months. Not only because of miscarriage risk but as your pregnancy progresses your excitement will grow and you will want to buy more. If you have the money now just put it aside and it will still be there in a few months. If you don't trust yourself, then buy yourself a gift card at your favorite baby store and you will only be able to spend it there.

If you have the urge to buy, don't let anyone stop you. However, be prepared, keep the tags and receipts so you can return things if tragedy should strike. In the meantime, enjoy pregnancy (morning sickness allowing), because stressing yourself out about something that might not happen isn't going to help those wild hormones!

Congratulations and good luck!!!!!

I started a soon as I knew - 3 months.

Not a good idea though. My sister did and lost the baby at 6 months. She went into labor, had the baby and then hours later it died. She cried everyday for months over those baby clothes.

It's still possible even though it hasn't happened to you before. Just be careful, it's great that you are excited but maybe you could put the money you want to spend in a seperate savings account so it will still be around in a few months

You can if you really want to...just don't get anything that's pink or blue (because you won't know the sex of the baby untill around 20 weeks) and if you do, keep the tags on everything and keep all reciepts...just in case. Good luck

You can now. I started shopping when I first found out I was pregnant. You could buy stuff for a boy or a girl til you find out what your baby is gonna be
