One of the world's strangest animals is the Duckbilled Platypus.
From:
The platypus is a very unusual mammal:
- It lays eggs like a bird or a reptile (this makes it a monotreme mammal)
- The males have poison like a snake in spurs on their hind legs.
- The poison can kill a dog and cause extreme pain in people.
- They have a bill like a duck.
- The bill has nostrils for breathing that can be closed when they go under water.
- They have a tail like a beaver.
- They have webbed feet like a duck.
- The mother's milk comes out through glands on her skin and the babies lick it off of her fur.
- The eyes are about the size of a dime.
- The platypus does not have teeth, so it grinds its food with grinding pads in its mouth.
The platypus is only found in Australia and its island state, Tasmania.
I don't think it would make a good pet!
;-D

Have you ever seen a star nosed mole or a Hawaiian Happyface Spider.......... Did you know the Platypus is poisonous............
World's Weirdest Crustacean?
This newly described species from the Pacific may merit that title. After all, what looks like a lobster covered with blond hair? Well, this critter does. It's not hair, of course, but a kind of hairlike filament. Still, the animal looks like it came either from a mad scientist's DNA lab or from another planet entirely.
There are more things in heaven and earth....

I'd vote for the duck-billed platypus. It is a mammal, but lays eggs. It has a bill like a duck, a body like an otter and a tail like a beaver. It also has spurs on its hind legs that contain venom, but nobody knows why. It's weird enough that when British explorers first discovered it in Australia and brought back stuffed specimens, most people thought they were a hoax stitched together from the body parts of several different animals. Now that's weird!

The Platypus. It has a flat, streamlined body, they have a muzzle shaped like the bill of a duck, webbed feet, and a tail like that of a beaver. The bill is not hard like that of a bird. It is actually an elongated muzzle covered with a leathery skin. The bill and feet of a platypus are black while the fur is usually a dark brown color. The platypus also possesses a spur on it hind legs that can be used to inject venom into another creature, it's pretty much their only line of defense. They're just freaky!!

What comes quickly to mind is the platypus for its body is covered with brown fur like a beaver but has a bill like a duck and its young are hatched from eggs. The male platypus also has spurs(like a rooster) which emits poisonous liquid when fighting other males and although it won't kill a human its quite painful. its metabolism is also slower that most mammals. it just looks weird.

Cocco bird because it lays its egg in other birds nests and removes the original eggs before laying that egg. The Cocco is the size of a crow and some of these nests are of birds less than 1/4 it's size.

My cat's really weird, but I guess that's not the answer you are looking for.
Ostriches are weird. They're 6ft flightless bird -- looks nothing like the average robin.
There are lots of strange creatures in the deep sea -- pictures of angler fishes creep me out.
I have to agree that humans are pretty weird - we walk on 2 legs, talk, have little fur (or protective hide, scales, feathers, etc).

I'd have to say a jackal. It is related to neither a dog nor a cat, but it has the appearance of both.
