Speaking for myself only, I definitely don't always get your sense of humor. I always think of Monty Python or Benny Hill. Monty Python I get, but it's a bit too dry for me. I totally don't understand the skit where the guy runs in and out of the room. :)

I LOVE your accents!!!! Nuff said.

As far as knowing what you are all about, I won't proclaim to really know that.

We don't get a lot of British shows or movies over here. I don't really know who your celebs are (other than that Spice girl and soccer player couple) or who your biggest musicians are.

I think *most* Americans are interested in other cultures and would like to know more, but unless you are gonna shell out big bucks for a long-range satellite dish, or travel a lot, it's difficult to do.

My overall opinion of Brits is really positive though. You are kinda like our cousins with the cool accents.

Good question!

I love British comedies. British accents are interesting. They make a person sound intelligent even when he's as dumb as a rock. I also like the little word differences between American English and British English( i.e diapers as opposed to nappies). I like the Brits. Y'all are our best allies. Our best friends in the world really. I think that we share a lot of the same values for democracy and freedom, etc. Beware of thinking all of America is like what the movies and TV show. Frankly, I think Hollywood is really out of touch with main-stream America. Also, because America is so large, our culture varies tremendously from region to region.

I think Britain's biggest export is American Professors. I enjoy British humor, to a point. I can only take so many fart jokes and boob jokes.
I can't figure out the royalty thing. Sort of like our celebrities, I guess, maybe crossed with our fascination with troubled people on "Cops".
Funny thing is, Americans don't usually get The Simpsons, so I'm glad that you do. Most of the humor on the show just goes over the average American's head.
I enjoyed my time in England, lots of bookstores, less paranoia.
Hitchhiker's Guide --O.K.
Red Dwarf -- O.K.
Monty Python - funny but often just random bizarreness
Benny Hill -- dirty old man, funny to other dirty old men and 14 year old boys
British game shows -- just mean, like Japanese game shows

I like British people! :o) I understand your humor/humour! Honestly I like the Australian accent best of all accents, and probably the British second best. I get news from bbc.com and The Guardian online (one of the best news sources, period). I think you need to buy more American cars, though. :o)
I do think that the monarchy is rather useless, but they're probably nice to have around because monarchies are becoming extinct, and yours has so much history that to banish your royals would be sacrilege!
Our countries have a special and rare bond that is like a brotherhood, and I hope that never fades.

I have worked with Americans for forty years and visited America quite a few times.

You get a variety of opinions. Some open and honest but others fostered by bias such as from some of the american Irish.

Sadly many Americans still seem to think that anyone who is not american is a sub species!

Well, coming from one of the Southern States, I think I qualify to answer this. I love the accents. To you I would have one too. Hahaha
Tell me, is that where "Are You Being Served" and "Hustle" are made? I am quite naive to this subject because I really have never given it much thought. If you base Americans off of the SIMPSONS, God help us all!!!

I'm an American, and I think we get your humor, pretty good!
Is "Benny Hill" a Brit? We use to watch him.I especially liked when he ran around the tree and people were chasing him.
As for your accents, absolutely! I could sit and listen ,all
day! I think Brits are the coolest people on earth!

I get your humour, Ab Fab is one of my favorite shows (when we get it over here)~~I do love the accent, I guess because it is very different from my very Southern accent. I have a friend from London and we always try to talk like each other~not to mention, your country gave us the Rolling Stones ;)
I love watch the BBC News~seems more honest than ours...

I'm not real crazy about Prince Charles. His off camera comments reported recently tell me he is not a prince at all. Not to mention his royal scr*w to Princess Diana.

I don't trust anyone (PM Blair) who cavorts with President Bush.

Sir Paul McCartney doesn't seem too happy right now.

Sir Elton John is adorable, a keeper.

John Masefield is one of my favorite poets.

All for now. . . .
