Last time America was facing high fuel prices and OPEC problems, they instituted the 55mph or 'double-nickel' speed limit nationwide. Would you slowly go insane and eventually just snap like a cheap rubber band and go on a multi-state mayhem spree, or could you deal with slowing your ride down to save fuel?

No, as a former truck driver I know that slowing down saves gas, I gained 1 mile per gallon by slowing down 7 miles per hour, just think if everybody did that, I know they would find another way to keep the prices high, but the point is it would help to go 55, it also makes a difference on driver fatigue and how 4 wheelers interact with you.

NY already has a maximum 55-mph speed limit on all roads except the major highways and interstates, so it wouldn't change things much here.

I'd fight it because it's ridiculous to have to go that slow, especially when congress keeps voting to prevent oil exploration of the coasts and Alaska's ANWAR region.
