First, paint is cheap and relatively easy to change. Here are several painting suggestions:
1. One WOW color throughout the room
2. Different colors on each wall
3. A solid base color, then blocks of color throughout the room. You can tape off the block before painting it. Don't just do solid squares - try other shapes, and try outlining shapes (a box within a box).
4. A solid base color, then splatter it with other colors. This could be fun - clear everything out of the room, cover anything you can't remove (including the floor!) with plastic, and suit up in grungy clothes. Thin the paint slightly (according to that particular paint's instructions). Dip your brush, then swing and flick it at the wall.
If you get creative with the paint, you can stay relatively "normal" with most of the major furnishings - bed, dressers, etc. Get an inexpensive duvet cover and some fabric paint, and you can decorate it the same way you did the walls.
If you have a little more money to spend, try putting some of your favorite CD's on the wall using CD frames (see below for an example). The cover art is protected, but the CD can be removed easily. The second link is less about decoration, more about storage.
Finally, think metal. I'm not (necessarily) talking about the kind of music, but metallic accessories could emphasize the edginess. For example, lamps with a brushed nickel base, metallic paint accents on (cheap) painted furniture (tape it off, then brush or spray).
Good luck, and whatever you do, be sure to get the okay from your parents before making any permanent changes. Remember, they'll probably be the ones paying to make it "normal" again later.

It's difficult to answer this for you, because we have no idea of what you like, and what you dont. First I would suggest you decide what it is you DO NOT like about your current decor. Is it too pink? Too girly? Not enough colour? If it is colour you are looking for, try adding a few bright fabrics (bedding, pillows, drapes). Also, ask your parents before painting any furniture, but consider painting any side tables or the dresser black. That way you can add tons of colour and style by placing stylish items of your choice on top of them. Mirrors are a good choice as well. Simple things to add and change in your room to make it feel more hip and "rockstar". Hope it helped!

Cute bedding! Can you borrow or rent an overheard projector? You can project whatever image ( music notes, keyboard.etc ) on the wall, trace it and then paint it. Think about an area rug, too. It could help cover the carpeting and it is not as expensive as replacing carpet. Just make sure it blends with everything else, of course.
