This question always surprises me because I mean honestly I think everyone knows that for 99% of women childbirth hurts. Now you can have an epidural and it can either take the edge off or numb you all together but it's going to hurt.
The thing is it's a good pain you get something so wonderful when it's all said and done and really don't think about that pain again until someone asks "Did it hurt?". I had one child with a late epidural that only took the edge off and one child natural. I wish I had done the first natural because I think it would have gone faster but I'm over it. I'm pregnant again for the third time even though I know it will hurt.
So I say enjoy pregnancy deal with the pain and love the reward.

Of course! My first labor was 25 hours and I chose to have no pain medication. My second labor was 8 hours with an epidural. I recommend the epidural!! Laboring without pain medication was horribly excruciating, and the only thing that eased it about 5 or 10% was a very long shower (3 hours) at the hospital. Thank goodness they don't run out of hot water!
Now - delivering a baby (pushing him or her out) is not as painful as you may think. It's the contractions that are torturous. You're in so much pain (at least I was) from the intense contractions that you don't notice the baby expanding your vagina. I didn't feel any ripping with either of my little ones, although I did with #1 and received a small episiotomy with #2.
Heaven forbid you are cursed with back labor (I never was) because I have heard numerous times that back labor is much worse than normal labor.
I just noticed a poster who had her children via cesarean because she was afraid of the pain. That is rather... not so bright, in my opinion. The pain from a cesarean after the baby has been born lasts much longer than a normal labor ever would. I am apalled that doctors accomodate women who opt for cesarean simply because they don't want any pain. Nobody wants pain, but cesareans aren't that good for your body! Research it if you question my statement.

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Don't do it unless your ready to go through the most pain you'll ever experience!!! It only hurts while your in labor and giving birth. On the other hand I've also had a c-section and it doesn't hurt while they do the c-section because they paralyze you from the waist down, it's the 6 weeks after that are a killer. Think about it,they cut you from hip to hip & there goes your flat tummy forever!!! I would never have a c-section again,I'd rather go through the pain of natural birth.

Hurt is a relative word.
People scared me about birthing, but when I was about to give birth the pain was nothing like they said. I think its different for everyone. The contractions felt more like a pressure on my bladder. I kept thinking that I wanted to pee every 4-5 minutes.
When my birthing mom took me to the hospital two hours later, I was already fully dialated. The last hour however, was freaking weird - the pain was intense and I couldn't breathe an my eyes were bulging and my screams were loud and piercing and I wanted to kill my husband and I wanted to strangle the freaking nurse who kept saying "ít's ok you can do this without drugs, it's the last hour its too late to take drugs, it will slow down the birthing process, just breathe.' And just like that it was over, and the pain was no more. Pray for drugs my dear.

OH YES it can be very painful but now days thay can ease the pain so it is not as bad as the good old days and after all the pain is over you seem to forget about until you have another one. If a man could have babys thay only would have one , because thay could not stand the pain of childbirth.

I'm a man, father of 2. When my wife gave birth to my first gal, I stood by her side and got hammered by her during the labour. She was clearly in pain.
For the second gal, I have learned to stand just a yard away, so that she will not reach me. I just stood there and comfort her.
Yes, I think she is really in pain. She is a very gentle women, and never have I saw her so angry and painful. I think it hurts.

First of all I can't believe a dude actually had nerve to answer this question....anyways....it depends on the method..I delievered my daughter via c-section so I don't know what vaginal birth is like....but I do know those labor pains are like no other pain imaginable...but you'll get through it and the end result is worth it!

It all depends on the kind of pain medication you receive or how
tolerant you are to pain. The doctor's can numb you from the waist down so you don't feel pain.
I had all mine natural and yes it got painful but i thought it was better than putting drugs into my baby's system

Oh, come on! You are either a guy, or a girl who hasn't had kids, or known anyone who had. OF COURSE it hurts! It hurts like hell. But once you give birth and hold that baby, it is very much worth it.

yeah...it's painful. An epidural or spinal block helps alot, but it still hurts even when you get one of those! I will say, it's not as painful as I feared it would be. It felt like really, really intense mentrual cramps (the contractions). By the time the baby comes, your body has shut down and you can't feel him come out much.
