Suggestion to all you ppl... give your age when asking stuff like this or about sex or bf's or gf's-- it really matters and you'll get more appropriate answers/help, if you'd do that! Anyway a good book for ANY female is "Why do I Think I'm Nobody Without a Man?"... the author is a female psychologist by the first name of Penelope. I forgot her last name, but you can find the book by title. Reason? Self-esteem and independence as a person. Sex is one thing, but just being a 'toy' for guys to use for their own pleasure and what really amounts to masturbation with you in the middle of it all only gives you a distorted idea of what you're about... what love is about...

I agree with anyone who said, "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" also, I would say that any and all of the Judy Blume books are great. I would still read and cry every time I read Forever. Although, I would not recommend this to any girl under the age of understanding and maturity for that level of reading.

The Clique is really good. Its about this popular group of girls and one girl thats trying to get in but she cant. (she eventually gets in though). This is in a series.
Gossip Girl is also really good, but I recomend the book for older teens because its not always approriate. This is also a series.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is also fun. Its about a group of friends who are apart almost all summer but keep in touch with a magic pair of pant. This is also in a series.
I like these books because they deal with lots of things some teens deal with: friendship problems, crush problems, ect.

The number one book all girls I believe should read is ( he's just not that into you the no-excuses truth to understanding guys. By Greg Behrendt & Liz Tuccillo)
It explains what to expect from a guy who is really into you and what to expect from a guy who isn't really into you. Absolutly nessasary reading for all women in understanding that weird species.... men.

The Rules--it's a book about dating. It seems a little old-fashioned but I've heard it works. I just read it and I haven't had a chance to test it out...it makes you think a little more about relationships you've been in though.

For self esteem books, the Chicken Soup Series is always good, there are many different subjects in the series now.

I enjoyed reading the sisterhood of the travelling pants and all of its sequels. They are a great read. Also I suggest any Jodi Picoult books.

Alanna.
"Song of the lioness Quartet"
by Tamora Pierce. i think it is a good fantasy book for preteen, it helps girls understand their feeling better, and helps them understand (gasp) boys.
is about a girl who train as a boy to be a knight. it also shows her inner strengths and determination, which i think all girls can learn from.
An Absolute Amazing Read!
