Billie Burke was the Glinda the Good Witch. Judy Garland was Dorothy. Ray Bolger was the Scarecrow, Frank Morgan was the Wizard and the professor at the beginning who sent Dorothy back to her aunt and uncle just before the tornado hit..

When the movie opens, we are in Kansas. A tornado comes and everyone manages to get in the storm cellar but Dorothy. She is in the house and gets hit in the head by something. She falls on the bed unconcious and the tornado picks the house up. When Dorothy wakes up, the house has landed in Oz. She meets Glinda, who wants to know if she is a good witch, since she killed the Wicked Witch of the East. the Munchkins come out, but so does the Wicked Witch of the West. Glinda give Dorothy the ruby slippers that the Wicked Witch of the East was wearing and sends her to the Emrald City to seek the help of the Wizard of Oz. On her way there, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tinman and the Cowardly Lion. They help Dorothy overcome the wicked Witch of the West several times. When they get to the City, they are escorted to the Wizard, but he is not like they were told and he sends them to killed the Wicked Witch of the West and bring her broom back as proof she is dead. They manage that by melting her. Then they go back to the Wizard, he tries to leave with Dorothy by hot air balloon, but ends up leaving Dorothy there. Glinda shows up and tells Dorothy how to use the ruby slippers to get back to Kansas.
This is a (very) brief synopsis of the movie. Check it out of your local library and watch it. It is a very good movie.
