I try to vote on the issues... so neither...
campaigning is often just "telling you what you want to hear"... while party affiliation doesn't take the person or issues into account...
I try to look at what the person voted for in the past and see if it is what I would have voted for..

Recognizing the core differences between the parties, I usually vote by party affiliation, unless the individual declares his own policies in contradiction to those.

I have never associated with a party, so I always go with the most effective campaigning.

to settle on how i will vote I pay attention to each and each candidate and picture approximately what they say. i glance at who helps them. I evaluate their average philosophy (Democrat or Republican). i for my section do no longer care how likable they are. they have a job to do. we've had presidents formerly that weren't all that likable yet they did a sturdy pastime. journey in federal point politics additionally has weight in my determination. prevalent ablility to handle problems. The candidate, no matter what their party association, that comes closest to my very own ideals, convictions, and expectancies will win my vote.
