Its easy ill tell you how. Pop out the protective plate on the front of your pc if your adding it to a pc with another cdrom drive if not pop the side of the case open and remove the cdrom in the slot that you want your dvd player. Take the 40 pin ribbon cable and attach it to the dvd drive ..plug in the 4 pin power cable..make sure the pin selector is set to Master..and secure it in the case with the screws it came with ..close up the case fire up the pc and windows xp should pick it up. Load your dvd software package if you got one with the drive and your golden. Feel free to email me if you have any other computer related questions

Not really! First, power down and unplug the computer from the wall. If it's a laptop remove the battery also. Remove the cover from the case. Remove one of the front port covers, unless your replacing an old drive. Set the "jumper" to the "master" position on the back of the DVD burner. If you have another optical drive, set the "jumper" on it to the "slave" position. Slide the DVD drive into the case, from the front or from the back. Secure the drive with the screws provided. Plug the endmost IDE ribbon plug into the "master" drive. If you have a second optical drive, use the middle IDE plug on the ribbon wire for it. Plug in the "molex" power plugs into the drive(s). Replace the cover on the computer case. Power it up. Install the burner/player software. You should be ready to go. Pay attention to your manual, the burner will only burn certain brands of blank DVD's. There will be a list of these in the owner's manual. If you don't have a manual you can go on line and get the information from the drives manufacturer.
