I tasted a small piece of liver when I was about 6 years old. I hated it and swore I would never eat it again. I'm 42 years now. A few weeks ago, I started craving liver....not even remembering any particular taste. I gave in to this crazy craving and bought some liver. Fried it up with some onions. Ate it. I'm not even sure I can say I liked the taste, but I can say I've been craving it every day. I think about eating liver all the time now. I have eaten a sole diet of liver every day now for the past 2 weeks or so. Is there something wrong with me? BTW...I have extremely heavy menstruation each month. It's bad enough that I miss work and stay in bed for 3-4 days straight. I have no energy during this time and the blood loss is extreme. I should also mention I have been anemic all my life and do not take iron pills like I should. Anyway....a friend suggested that this sudden unexplained craving for liver might be natures way of replacing blood and iron that I've been losing. Possible?

I'm not pregnant. I get horrible periods every month. I've had a tubal ligation almost 20 years ago.
As for spinach....it's another new craving. I've been eating spinach like crazy too. I go out of my way to buy it fresh and I put it in about every recipe I make. I've also been eating alot of yellow squash ans zuccini. I don't know if those things relate, but I've been eating alot of them. These are things I've never eaten much of before recently.

well im going to have to agree with your friend.. your body may be trying to tell you "give me some iron", so your getting cravings for these things. idk if that would really happen.. but it sounds reasonable.. AND even so, it's a good thing your eating alot of things with iron in it !!!!! i would not let it bother you, be happy your getting iron that you need !!! just make sure you don't go overboard, because of course too much of something is never good, and if it really does bother you see a doctor... specifically your gyno.. because it does not sound good that you have such heavy menes and that you get tired (of course from being anemic) and maybe a dietrian too see how you can incorperate these foods that you are craving but do not necessarily like!

It is rather excellent for you. The fundamental intent is the iron content. Humans who are anemic would benefit immensely from eating liver. Regrettably for you, you will have it for your head that it is an organ and it holds toxins so it is a mind over topic factor as as to if you could possibly be equipped to eat it. It additionally has a very distinct taste and either you like it or you do not. I'm told if it can be cooked proper it is vitally good.

If you have been bleeding a lot then the body is trying to build up the blood again. Liver is high in iron and that is needed for the blood. That is what makes blood red. You should see a doctor about this because you may also have other problems causing this. Raisins are also good for building blood.

Liver is good for woman it helps with the peroids, try liver and bacon together. Iron and calcium women lack, you won't be anemic when eating liver. Onions and bacon taster great, you will lose a x amount of blood when you have your peroid, liver beef is the best scource. However liver is high in cholesterol,
for men it is toxic, beef liver ok, table form no way.Happy liver eating...

Sounds possible. Are you sure you're not pregnant?
I craved cheese and onion sandwiches when I was. I would get up in the middle of the night and eat one and then go back to bed.
You may want to check in with your doctor though. Too much organ meats can cause gout. It's really painful, and you don't want to add that to the mix.

tubal ligation can cause heavy bleeding
liver is a great source of iron but is also high in vitamin A, eating to much you could OD on this vitamin which is not good
you must go see your doctor and take the iron tablets you have been prescribed

i think u should take iron tablets and your friend could be right, yes. i would also suggest u go for a check up at the doctors and tell him wot u have told us. maybe there is an underlying reason for your very heavy periods. i would get a thorough check up if i was u, u may be suffering needlessly. good luck.
