There is so much traffic noise around the hotels/resorts I've seen that I'm not sure such a place exists. But when I'm ready to crash, I want silence. Is there an establishment that meets my criteria?

You are still going to get the noise at the hotels that don't sit on the strip but are within blocks from it. If you want piece and quiet, try the Suncoast, Rampart Casino, Red Rock Station or the South Coast Station, there is also Green Valley Ranch that is nice as well. Are you still wanting to be able to walk to the strip? Try the Palms Hotel, The Orleans, The Stratsophere.

Stay at the Hooters Hotel, formerly the San Remo. Have been there twice before it was remodeled and it was nice then. Now it has been upgraded. It is "off the strip" but is right across the street from MGM grand, tucked behind the Tropicana so is within very close walking distance to NYNY, Excalabur and the Luxor.

They have reasonable rates, cheaper during the week.

Enjoy your vacation!

doubt it but Sams Town just about 7 miles & has tons of shuttles. Well under $100. Downtown too well under $100 & < 5 miles but rooms near the Fremont Street Experience can hear it. Main Street station & Plaza get RR noise. El Cortez quiet & very cheap but some think it is not "upscale" enuff. I stayed there often before i moved here. Quiet level ok. vegas_iwish@yahoo.com

Try the Las Vegas Hilton ,RIO, or The California off the strip and quiet. If you get a room on Fremont Street make sure you get one in the back away from all the laser lights at the Fremont Street Experience.

Try the hotels on Freemont Street. There is not as much traffic since the street is a closed pedestrian mall.
