Do you mean deserted island?!? Like there are no other people? Because I don't think that it is technically possible for someone to drown in the desert!! :o)
And I would of course pick the NASA engineer because I would want OFF that island. Whose to say that the pornstar would want to have sex with you anyways?!? Haven't you ever heard the saying...I wouldn't have sex with you if you were the last man on earth??? :o)

I would throw the live saver to the engineer and swim out to save the porn star.
