Because a felines body can only handle being pregnant for a short period of time, I guess because, they are hunting animals who need their bodies to get back in shape as quickly as possible so that they can get energize to go back out on the hunt.
That is why they get pregnant and have their cubs or kittens earlier then humans; they are predators. They do not have time to be pregnant!

Because as humans not only are we bigger but also in regard to smarts brain development takes longer to develop then a simpler animal like a cat. Basically because we are more advanced. A cat doesn't have to develop to be able to learn language, etc.

It's relative to the size of the animal. A smaller animal naturally needs less time to develop inside the mother's body because they don't have to grow organs as big as a human's.

its because we are bigger than cats are. the larger the species is the longer they are pregnant. cats 2 months humans 9 months.

Well think about it...why do people live for 70 to 90 years average and cats only live for..what?...10/15 max, i guess....much shorter life span, much shorter pregnancy term : 0 )...DO THE MATH!

Different species. Elephants are pregnant for a lot longer.

It is just the gestation period for that being........it just is the way it is. Thats like asking why is the elephant pregnant for 24 months. It just is!

Well cats dont live near as long as humans either, so if they had a long pregnancy, they should also live as long as us, right?

Dunno but thank God we aren't elephants they have a 2 year gestation period.
