never really shows but one time it is open there is like a gold reflection so the guess is gold
or could it been M. Wallace's soul and God protected them from the end shooting as they were saving a soul .
In his 1966 interview with director-film critic Francois Truffaut Alfred Hitchcock said:
It might be a Scottish name, taken from a story about two man in a train. One man says
"What's that package up there in the baggage rack?"
And the other answers, "O that's a McGuffin."
The first one asks "What's a McGuffin?"
"Well" the other man says, "Its an apparatus for trapping lions in the Scottish Highlands."
The first man says, "But there are no lions in the Scottish Highlands," and the other one answers "Well then that's no McGuffin!" So you see a McGuffin is nothing at all.

In other words a McGuffin is a term for the device or plot element that catches the viewer's attention or drives the logic of the plot, especially in suspense films. According to Hitchcock, the McGuffin can be ignored as soon as it has served its purpose. Examples are the mistaken identity at the beginning of North by Northwest (1959) and the entire Janet Leigh subplot of Psycho (1960)

Okay, ley someone answer who actually KNOWS.
----Their intention is for the audience to imagine what it could be.They never show it because it would take away from something valuable to a particular individual. They didn't want to have to tell you what was valuable. It was up to you.It still is if you haven't seen the movie. It is common to popular belief that it was Wallace's soul.........but that is not the case (unless you want it to be).

According to one interview with Quentin Tarantino, it was Marsellus Wallace's soul. However, this has never been officially verified.

Snopes has a story on it: http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/pulp.htm

a light bulb

I've heard they never really decided what it was, and that the viewer can choose whatever they want. The most common I've heard is that it is Marcellus(sp) Wallaces(also sp) soul.

i think of it particularly is Marcel's soul. it particularly is why he had a band-help in the back of his neck whilst you evaluate it particularly is the place the devil took it from? and that's why God stopped tha gangstas from being shot whilst they have been getting it because of the fact they have been saving a soul

No one knows. Quentin Tarantino was quoted as saying it was Marsalles' soul, but then he said he didn't know.

Makes you wonder?
