You need to do a system restore. Just zero out your hard drive, and reinstall all you programs.
Once you get everything installed, put your anti-spyware and anti-virus software on your PC.
Lastly, attach your computer to the internet. (Do not connect to the internet until you've installed all your protection software.)
Once connected to the internet, don't go to questionable sites, and don't download anything from a site you don't trust. (Sites giving away free anything are usually the worst!)
If you have kids, and you have Windows XP, set up separate accounts for each kid. Make sure the kids are set up as restricted users. Do not give them adminstrative rights.

I use a combination of:
* Symantec Anti-Virus or AVG Anti-Virus free edition
* Ad-Aware
* Spybot Search and Destroy
* Spyware Blaster
* CCleaner (crapcleaner)
* Windows Firewall (or ZoneAlarm, for a little more brutal protection)
* Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta (or Windows Defender)
and a couple other programs that are a bit more complicated than the average user will be able to use safely
You may also want to download and install (and use) Mozilla FireFox browser (instead of Internet Explorer), which will help some. But, the best defense against spyware is smart browsing and clicking.
With the listed prog's, you should be able to clear it all up no prob'.

Since you can't afford much let's go for the free programs. You definitely need adawareSe from lavasoft (there's others with similar names, get the one from Lavasoft), Spybot and Windows Defender which replaced the original spyware program. After running those you can also download A-squared which will find even more stuff. After downloading and loading, reboot into safe mode and run each program. then run your anti-virus program. Norton will not remove every virus. eTrust will do a better job but you would have to pay for that and uninstall Norton first. Stay with the free stuff and see if it solves your problem - it should.

Some weeks ago I had a problem with my computer, it was slowing down and i couldn't explain why some websites where redirecting! Since I had a good (norton) antivirus system I did not think that I had spyware! , however a friend of mine came to my house and immediately told me that I had a spyware program, he entered into a site downloaded one of the free programs featured there and installed it on my computer, after running this program my computer is fast and downloading normally, whilst my homepage was also restored.
the webpage where you can find free reliable anti spyware is:

Quick answer is to use Webroot Spy Sweeper (rated #1 in the industry along with many accolades).
Use long answer should you still notice some on your PC.
Long answer is to reformat your PC. Second, install the start-up disk for your operating system that came with your PC. Third, make sure your firewall is on. Fourth, install your anti-virus (Norton/McAfee). Fifth, install Webroot Spy Sweeper. Then, you can connect to the internet. Make sure you get all your windows updates to tighten up any critical holes your system may have. I wish you well!
