I'm not much into BBQs unless it's a flavour of potato chips, so I must be missing that gene. But I already knew that I'm descended from monkeys, who lived in trees eating bananas!

Because, it brings out the "man" in them.
Kinda like the way we women can't help going to a sale for shoes or clothes or something. Once we see a certain percentage off some things then we are all over that.
Same thing with men and grills.

In Britain as you know the weather is notoriously bad. The eagerness to cook is in part a celebration of the fact that the weather is good enough to cook outdoors. Also in a primal sense there is the fire thing, and tewhole alpha male thing "This is my fire, I'm in charge" :)

Open flame, it gets them every time. Men love danger and a challenge. Besides, let them get the burns and the smoky smelling clothes. I'll stay inside and make a salad anyday.

I have heard that Swiss men prefer fondue to all other forms of cooking. Maybe all cultures have one dish for the men.

guys r mostly very homely n very inventive so when ever they see a bbq the frst thing that comes to their mind is trying that out

Yeah i would have to say it's a primative urge for men to feel compelled to throw flesh on a fire.. like moths drawn to a fire.
