your friends get pissed because you have a girlfriend and they dont or they think your spending too much time with her. Either way ignore them if you think it is going somewhere.

probably one of two things...he's jealous of your social life or it's possible that he's into YOU and not the girls. I'm in no way trying to be funny about this.
