THe answer to your question is a very simple answer. The Supreme Court ruled that teaching religion in public schools goes against the Constitution's idea of no state mandated religion. Since the public schools are atate agencies and the teachers, principals, etc are state employees, if a teacher teaches the "flood" for example it can be miscontrued that the state (or government) is endorsing Christianity as the only true religion. Before this ruling, the ten commandments and the golden rule were taught in school and whether people want to believe it or not, there wasn't as many social problems that we have today: drugs, alcohol, shootings, disrespect towards teachers by students, etc. The list can go on and on. So that is why religious ideas about creation are not taught in the public schools.

After a certain age nobody has to go to school. You can remain ignorant if you want to. You can spend a lifetime watching people getting all the good things of life, while you work like a mule for next to nothing. The choice is yours. Oh yes, the bible. If you really believe that all you have to know is in the bible, you'd better figure on a life in a convent.

The Bible is very true from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. As for the others who say "try living on the Bible alone" , God said "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Jesus told Satan this when the devil was tempting Him to make the stones into bread. But, unfortunately public schools don't teach the Bible. You have to learn Science to get your credits to graduate. Don't get me wrong, I love Science. My kids go to a christian school and their science book is awesome, but don't ever totally rely on anything that man has written.

Science proves the Bible is not just a book of stories to make you believe in God. Take the findings of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Analysis of the Brimstone
These sulfur balls are mostly golf ball sized, and some have burn marks all around them! Webster's Dictionary says that "brimstone" = sulfur. Accordingly, we have found the absolute proof that we have finally located Sodom and Gomorrah, the cities of the plain. Each of the cities of the plain contains evidence of brimstone which God rained down upon the cities to destroy them. The brimstone is composed of 96-98 percent sulfur, with trace amounts of magnesium which create an extremely high temperature burn. This is the only place on earth where you can find pure monoclinic sulfur in a round ball. This brimstone is NOT from any type of geo-thermal activity as there is no evidence of such in the area, and geo-thermal sulfur nodules are only 40 percent pure sulfur and are of the rhombic type.
Analysis of the Ash
Everything in these cities burned and turned into ash, including the buildings themselves as the Bible says that the cities were to be destroyed also. The extremely high burning temperatures created a multi-shaded layering of ash that was formed by thermal ionization, caused by electrons repelling and attracting, creating a swirling effect sometimes. The intense fire which
God reined down upon these cities was so hot that it burned the limestone blocks that were used in the construction of the cities. The ash there today is composed of Calcium Sulfate and Calcium Carbonate which are by-products of the limestone and sulfur burning.
There are documentations to back up every one of these statements from actual science laboratories. Also, there is the Red Sea crossing, found, documented, and proven. Noah's Arc, found, documented, proven. The theory that the earth is millions and millions of years old, found to be unverifiable from carbon dating. Science is the key to show that God is One and his name (in hebrew YHWH -yod-hey-wav-hey) is one. That not one jot or tittle will pass until every thing he laid out in scripture is fulfilled. Science only backs up that he meant every word. Every word has happened, is happening, and will happen.

Who said that the Bible contains the only truth? There are many things that are not covered in the Bible. My religion (and I am a Christian, by the way) encourages me to find truth wherever I can.

Bible and Science= Two different things. Bible goes against views in Science, while science goes against views in the Bible.

So I suppose you still believe the sun is in orbit around Earthl And of course, all those fossils that are found every day are actually made of plastic and interred there by scientists trying to fool us into believing in evolution! And Cain married a woman who came from... where the heck did that woman come from? And God made light the first day of creation but it was only on the third day that he (probably an afterthought!) got to creating the sources of light, the sun and the other stars! You''ve got to be kidding!

You put "science" in quotation marks...which leads me to wonder what kind of science you are having issues with. Please go look in your Bible for the science that brought you the computer that you are using, and the chemicals that you use to dye your hair, and the make-up that you wear....not to mention the medicines that keep you healthy.
Remember, God created man in His own image...which means, He also created the scientist...the mathemetician...etc. If God did not want us humans to learn "Science", He would have stopped us when we started making fire.
