This is a CLASSIC question!
When I was younger (much younger) I wished to live in the Antebellum South. Of course, this desire was based on movies – big houses and beautiful dresses. Someone in my family pointed out that I would be an ugly little outcast because I freckle. As I began to mature and realized the “cost” of those extravagances, I decided the Victorian Age was just right for me. They still had pretty dresses, and slavery wasn’t an issue (at least in my young mind).
When I was a young adult, I read a novel that graphically pointed to the lack of “creature comforts” during these earlier errors. I have had the great displeasure of using an outhouse, so I could live with that inconvenience. I wouldn’t like it any, but I could live with it. The most shocking part of this novel, though, was the part that made me realize exactly where the expression “on the rag” originated. That is a humiliation that I would never want to endure. It caused me trauma to read about it!
When I got a little older, I found out about the whalebone stays. Sometimes women actually died for that tiny waist because the whalebones punctured their skin and lungs.
So, I am quite happy to live in a time of modern conveniences. I have no desire to live in the future, and “reality” blemishes the romance of the past. I sure do wish we would have a new fashion trend of long pretty dresses, though! Just think, Ladies – no more pantyhose!!!!!

Present is the best. Why? Because you can't change the past but you still have time to change the future. If you are happy with what you have now, your job, your apartment, your neighborhood etc...., then live the pattern (the schedule) you have now into the future, and your future will be exactly the same as your present. If you're not happy with your present, then you have to do something everyday to improve, only then, your future will be better than your present.

The present is just fine...but if I could go back to live in any time period, I think the 50's would have been fun. When I hear stories, it sounds fun, and happy.

I sometime think that it would be interesting to live during the time of Yeshua (that is Jesus), about 2000 years ago, to observe the Biblical events that happened in his life. But the trouble with such meandering thoughts is that it is easy to overlook the things I take for granted in this time that make life so much better, like dentistry, porcelain toilets, antibiotics, eye glasses, and filtered water.
It is difficult to be nostalgic about the future because there is no information to reference about it - it could be worse in as many ways as it could be better than now. So my conclusion is that now is a good time to live.

I'd go back to 1989-2000, post-cold war, pre-911. That will probably be looked upon as the last Golden Age in America in another 100 years. Ah, yes. Seinfeld, Monica Lewinsky, O.J. Simpson, Kurt Cobain, life was good.

The present time is fine. Although I really enjoyed the 80's and early 90's. Music and TV was fun back then. And people didn't seem so stressed and materialistic as they do now.

Truthfully, I would like to have lived during the Napoleonic Age. I understand that many people see him as a tyrant, but as I have asked in research papers: Was Napoleon Bonaparte really a tyrant, or a patriot of France? From my studies, I have seen that Napoleon was one of the, if not the greatest military commander of all time. I would have loved to be able to live through his escape from Elba, and his return to power. It must have been an amazing time...

I would like to go back to the North America before any Europeans explored here and live as a native experimenting in medicine living off the land and fallowing the buffalo. Not to mention participating in tribal ceremonies and making love to the beautiful women :)

I would pick the present. Why? Because it is shortly after the internet revolution, various new ideas and purposes are springing up that would not have occurred pre-internet, and dangerous technologies and major ecological problems are looming on the horizon. Will we save ourselves, or will we choose to smile ourselves into ignorance and extinction?

The 60's! Especially the 60's in London. It was a major revolution here and in England then.
