I really want to know...from the people who DON'T like it. Why don't you like it? It seems as though many people on here enjoy bad-mouthing it. What sport would you rather watch?

They don't know what NASCAR racing is really about. They think it's just what they see on race day, what's shown on television. They probably have never read any books on NASCAR(and there are plenty of books out there)that tell people what really goes on behind the scenes, how the drivers got into racing, how those cars are built(not on an assembly line!),qualifying, point standings, tracks(especially since all haters ASSUME all tracks are just 'turning left' there are two ROAD COURSES, Infineon and Watkins Glen)...
and some people just aren't into racing. Of any kind. Period.

Obviously people didn't read in your question that you want to hear from people who don't like it! Since other people who like Nascar answered I will too!

I think it's just because they never actually sat and watched a race to truly give it a chance! Or never got to experience a race live!

As with any sport we have a lot of bickering about who's the best; but in the end on race day we are all together to watch all of them race! The only thing I can't stand is the little teenagers who are just groupies who like a driver only because he is cute, like a lot of Jr fans have been and now Kahne is getting them. Don't get me wrong I think some of the drivers are fine, but this is racing not a modeling contest!

I think a lot of people hate it because they don't understand what really goes on behind the walls of racing. People think all it is is driving a car in a big circle and that's it...Well, coming from a racing family and racing myself, I know that its way more than that. There is many, many hours that tons of people put into the cars to make them fast or more aerodynamic and that is what really needs to be done. Plus, they have to drive for 3 hours at a time in heat that's crazy and drive around some tracks at 200 mph. That's crazy. They have a lot of talent and there amazing people. Every driver i have ever met were so respectful toward their fans. They are the nicest athletes you will ever meet.

I used to be a hater...but then I started watching because my boyfriend at the time loved Senior. I became so obsessed that when I worked for Home Depot I wouldn't work on sundays so I could watch the race...now my little boys room in racing and we by merchandise for our favorite drivers all the time.
I think people don't understand how you get to know what happens from track to track and who is out to get who...I love it and I encourage anyone to watch a full race for two weeks and then not say that it isn't entertaining...my brother-in-law smack talks NASCAR all the time...but if I have the race on he watches it.

I'm not a big fan though I lived in NASCAR country for many years. (I lived and worked in the county where Richard Petty was born.) I just don't like motor racing in general, so it isn't NASCAR in particular that I don't like. However, it is so popular down there, like a religion, that it is easy to tease my friends about their obsession with NASCAR. Furthermore, the reputation of NASCAR being a "redneck sport" further lends itself to being mocked. Nevertheless, although I don't necessarily care for NASCAR, I can appreciate their passion for the sport.

Hope that helps.

As for sports I enjoy watching, I like college football, college basketball, and pro football.

I don't hate it. I just don't relate to a bunch of people driving around in circles. And, I know this will ruffle some feathers.........
I don't really consider the drivers to be athletes or the event to be a sport. However, I don't have any problem with other people being entertained by it. Presumably, it makes the events that I like to attend less crowded.

Because whats the point of watching cars go around in circles, I mean seriously whats the point. Its like oohhh my cars faster than yours.
Sorry if I come of as rude or aggressive it's really not my intention.
Now for a real Sport, in my personal humble opinion, baseball live and in person. Never watch baseball on TV 'cause thats just hella boring but live dude is the greatest thing, as far as sports go.

nascar is really more than just riding around in circles. though some tracks are similar to others they have thier own characteristics. you have your flat tracks and some with banking.
you have weather factors gas milage tire issues and engines. its not always the faster car that wins but the one that usually has the strongest car in the end.

My dad is a big fan, and I cannot see why. It's just a bunch of cars going around in a circle about a million times really fast. Woohoo a reck can happen, but seriously, I have better things to do with my time!
