why everytime i put a music cd in the cd drive, that my windows media wants to rip the songs before playing my music. all i want to do is play my cd's without ripping them, is there anyway that my media will play it without ripping them? i went to the library to check out some music cd's

Change the action when you add the new cd by:
Go to My Computer
RC on the CD Drive and choose properties
On the Autoplay tab
For music files change the action to play with Windows Media Player

That is a preference and program issue. Check your computer for the settings and then of course you can go to MS website and ask the same question.

change your media player with a new one.. window media player 10..or go to tools,and switch off the rip mode. just try it.

You might have to uninstall the program and install it again. Sometimes programs start to mess up after a while. Or if that doesn't work you can buy another program.

Check your settings and preferences, someone might have programmed it that way.

if u cant change sttings of ur media player then i suggest that u change ur media player...install a new one.

check your setting and restore it to defaults
