MySpace makes it's money by charging advertisers to display their ads on the website. Depending on the location of the ad on the website, Myspace charges different fees.
According to a few studies I've seen, the average CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) on Myspace is extremely low. In fact, it's about 10 cents. What's this mean? For every 1,000 ads you see, myspace makes 10 cents. Doesn't seem very profitable, does it?
Well, it could definitely make more money, but there's quite a bit floating around the internet about Myspace making $13 Million last month. Hardly a great return on $580 Million.
You should take that with a grain of salt, though, since Myspace doesn't have to publish earnings reports like publically held corporations (Fox, Yahoo, Google, America West, to name a few). The only people that really know how much they make aside from themselves is the IRS.

Adverts.
Considering that there are about 100million people on MySpace, I'd imagine that the advertising space is very expensive. I couldn't begin to suggest how much revenue they might make though.

I'm guessing they make a LOT. Since they don't charge to have a space, they probably make most of their money from the advertisements. You could always ask Tom.

Well, they have sponsors to put it on the web and get all those servers and they have some money. Or it could be a guy that loves his computer and is bored -- like me!
