I can honestly say it will get better...I am on the same meds plus Mirtazpine(seems to help me eat more)...There were days I felt the same way, heck, I aint gonna lie, I still have days that way, everybody does. But, fortunately for me I have a doctor who didnt give up on me. We had to try a lot of different combinations of meds before we found the right one. And yes, some days I hate having to take all these meds, but for me I know I have to. Being Bipolar isnt easy to understand, and its not always easy to live with, but it could always be worse... Hang in there and take it one day at a time....

They need to find the right combination of drugs for you. Sometimes it takes time -- it's all trial and error.

Please be careful with the xanax, it is a highly addictive drug and should be used on a short term basis.

I assume you are bi-polar (because of the lithium). Are you more manic? I'm guessing that you are because of the xanax. If you were more depressive you would get an anti-depressant like effexor (which it seems you have taken before)

Ask your therapist about support groups. Nothing equals being in a room with people who truly understand what you experience. Believe me it helps to be with people who understand you, rather than people who mean well (but haven't got a clue) and tell you to cheer up; it'll get better.

Others have been through this --find them and go to a group; I doubt that you'll be sorry.

Good Luck

did you ever try getting off the pills? all that stuff messes with your mind and may make you THINK that you are at the end of the life rope. they pump you full of drugs that make you "need" more drugs. ask your doctor if you can try getting off the pills and see how you feel. remember it's all in your mind and only YOU can make it better (the pills are just a crutch). try taking some relaxation classes or yoga or maybe even a support group.

It is going to get better.

Just breathe. Think of something pleasant.
