I would assume this is probably because you haven't had a lot of exposure to a large number of black people. Being black myself and constantly surrounded by black people, I can assure you that black people do wear shades and in large quantities. We don't want to have to squint anymore than a white person does.

I'm not offended. Blacks, or so I heard, have alot more melanin in both their eyes and skin. It is something like a 500 sun screen. Whites don't have that luxery. The sun hurts our eyes and skin alot faster than yours. So, we learned a few years back that sunglasses not only protect our eyes and eyesight but also prevents crows feet. Believe me, it works. I've worn sun glasses for 20 years and have fewer crows feet than others in my family that didn't.

I wear them but I would not consider myself addicted. I'm a caucasian female, red haired with light blue eyes and even bright grey days are hard on my eyes..very sunny days are killer. The glare is so bad for me that without the sunglasses to knock down the glare I would not be able to drive. For me they are a necessity not a fashion statement.

I don't know anything about which groups are more likely to wear sunglasses. But my dad spent a lot of time in the sun and never wore sunglasses and went blind in his later years. I don't want the same thing to happen to me, so I wear sun glasses quite often.

I'm caucasion and I really don't like wearing sunglasses...they annoy me. But living in FL. with the sun constantly reflecting off of everything...I try to wear them so I don't go blind one day. My hubby feels just as I do. We don't like wearing them but we're working on making that a habit. Maybe it depends on sensitivity to light...everyone else we know has their sunglasses attached to them in some way at all times. Go figure. Strange enough though...we're in our 30's and have good vision.

Are you black? I presume if you werent, you wouldn't be asking this question! If I was a white person asking this question, would you assume I was being racist?
I'm white and rarely wear sunglasses, and I see lots of races wearing them where I live.

You must not be in Florida...
The ratio of black people wearing sunglasses to white people wearing sunglasses is about even here...
I am a black woman and I wear them constantly, so does just about every black person I know...
You reasoning is not logical my dear.

My eyes are hazel with golden centers- they have always been extremely light sensitive. And yes I am caucasian. Could it be that black people usually have dark or brown eyes? I don't know but I know I need sunglasses on even hazy days or at least feel much more comfortable with them on especially driving.

I wear sunglasses because it helps protect my eyes from the harmful sun rays!!! And because if my sunglasses protect me from the sun in my eyes...then its less likely ill get in a car crash!!! Oh...and its not just white people. My boyfriend is mexican..he wears them all the time. My sisters boyfriend is black, he wears them all the time. I have a couple friends who are of the black color and they wear sunglasses...maybe your just seeing what you want to see.

I know plenty of black folks and other cultures who wear sunglasses! It's not a culture thing, it's more of a regional thing. It all depends on what environment you're in. I live in Florida, so almost EVERYONE wears sunglasses!
