ok, this will work 100% of the time.
Get a big glass of water, get a straw, plug your ears and close your nose and drink fast. works every time for me.

Hiccups result from a sudden contraction of the diaphragm, causing an immediate closure of the throat, producing the all too familiar 'hiccup' noise. If the traditional wives' tales of blowing into a paper bag or drinking a glass of water from the far side don't work, try these tips from Daniel Bergkvist from the Met Bar in London...
PUT THEM ON ICE
"Make your neck nice and cold by rubbing ice over it, especially over the muscles that run from your jawbone to your collarbone," Daniel says. "This helps block the nerve impulses that cause your diaphragm to spasm and make you hiccup."
SUGAR RUSH
Swallowing a teaspoon of sugar will provide a short term boost to your metabolism, increasing your respiration. This should increase the amount of carbon dioxide in your bloodstream, which should then have a relaxing effect on your diaphragm.
WIERD SCIENCE
Stop your body focusing on the rhythmic cycle of the contractions going on in your diaphragm by generating a new sensation. "Get a friend to tickle you or spin you round with your eyes shut," Daniel says. "But make sure there's enough space around you before you knock everybody's drinks over."

There is no real cure for hiccups. the only thing that will stop them is the end of what caused them. all these cures are just folk tales.

you can always try scarying him by surprise, it works sometimes, having him stand upside down and drink a glass of water ive heard also works, ive never tried it though, but you can give it a try. the one about holding your breathe, it actually DOES work, but you have to concentrate on it, its not easy, its taken me 23 years of my life to actually stop it by concentrating on it while holding my breathe.
the real secret to losing your hiccups is drinking a shot of pure taquila or grappa. i know this isnt even suitable for your kid, but just to let you know in case it comes up on you. that really stops it, not kidding.
