Lida Fariman, the first Iranian woman to attend the Olympics since the 1979 revolution when comepeted in a shooting event at the '92 Barcelona games. In the '96 Atlanta Games, she carried the Iranian flag for the team while dressed in a white hejab, and competed in her shooting event while wearing the heavy head-dress in a stifling indoor arena.

The issue for Iranian women isn't sport per se , it's if they can compete while wearing a hejab. ranian women will only be able to compete in sports that enable them to be covered from head to toe, such as horseback riding.
