In Loving Memory of Shawna
January 13, 1991 to December 12, 2005

Shawna was a beautiful puppy so little and new
And boy did she love to chew.
She had tons of energy and loved to run around.
She always seemed to be acting like a cute little clown.
As the evening worn on she would jump on your lap
That was her favorite place to take a nap.

As she grew older, in the field she would love to run.
Sometimes far away from us, just for fun.
But when she was running in the field,
She always wore a smile, like a bright shining shield.

She was a happy quiet dog, never afraid,
Tug of war was her favorite game to play.
She loved people, and greeted everyone with a wagging tail.
Nothing pleased her more, well except maybe more food in her pail.

And in the evening I’d feel her climb upon the bed
And lie between us and I’d pat her head.

When she was older, she lost her sight
I thought what a terrible plight.
But she handled it well, better then people I believe.
The couch beside my desk became the favorite place to be.

She was good at letting me know when she wanted to go.
“Please help me off the couch” is what she seem to crow.
Sometimes I would guide her to her food and water dish
And she would thank me with a little kiss.

At night is when she would show her love the most,
She always wanted to be very close.
Sometimes she would stand on the bed
Staring at me, as if she could see my head.
I’d reach out my hand and stroke her hair.
She would then lie down and relax, because she knew I was there.

And now she is dead.
There are nights when I think I still feel her climb upon our bed,
And there are nights when I think I feel that stare
And I reach out my hand to stroke her hair
But - she is not there.

Now more then a month has past
And I know now my love for her will forever last
And now when I think of Shawna I smile instead of cry
And this surprised me, but I soon understood why.
Because what Shawna has taught me will never fade
She gave so much love, so much more then I ever gave.

When we were moving from Wyoming to Nebraska, my dog was in the back of our pickup in his carrier. It's so blessed windy in Wyoming that the top of the carrier blew off, leaving my dog free to do as he pleased. He had never been in the back of a pickup before, and he jumped out onto the highway, getting killed immediately by the boat that was being pulled behind the pickup. His name was Pee Wee. He was a border collie/ dalmatian. He loved kids. He put his life on the line numerous times for my sister and I. I'll never forget that dog, but we have moved on to other pets. No dog will ever replace Pee Wee.

When I was 7 years old my dog Duke attacked my cousin for no reason. She had to get stitches on her face and her butt. Duke had always been a good dog before that day. He used to let me and my little brother crawl on him and ride him like a pony. We did everything with Duke. My dad took Duke to the vet to see if he had rabies and thought that might be the reason for the attack. The tests came back and he did not have rabies. Because of legal reasons and pressure from my uncle my dad put Duke to sleep. I was very angry with my dad, my uncle, and even my cousin. I just wanted my dog back and those people played a part in taking him away from me.

Yes, I had gotten a black&white kitten named Chealsea from a cat breeder, and she was about 7 weeks old, and one day in January, it was snowy outside and my I let her outside, then I went to go to some place, I forget where, but when I came back she wasn't outside. I went outside and looked for her, and put up signs all over the neighborhood and I never found her!!! I just like to think that someone found her and took her home, than to think that she died because of the cold weather. Im still miss her very very much! :( Sorry for your loss!!!!!!!!
