if you're interested in web design then read through the most of the following website: http://www.W3schools.com
or read lots of books.
Note: it helps to read through the entire thing, however only CSS and HTML are absolutely necessary

There are many careers that could fall under computer design. Are you interested in graphics? Are you interested in programming? Which field are you interested in? First decide which direction with computer design you want to go. Research it. I am a web developer. I not only do web programming I also do graphics. I started years ago doing print graphics and when websites were starting to become popular I learned programming and the differences between print and web graphics. Computer design can take you down many paths...its decided which one you want to take. There are good jobs out there in this field.

If it is designing the hardware, look into Computer Engineering. If it interests you look for Universities with a Computer Engineering program.
If it is software design, there are so many areas to specialize in it can make your head spin. Finding out what part of it can seem a daunting task. I am a Computer Science student and it has taken me 3 years in college to choose my emphasis in Databases and Database Design.

Go to college.
If you're interested in teaching yourself, pick an aspect of "computer design" that you are particularly interested in such as "graphic design," "hardware engineering," or "database development." Enter that into a search engine and look for websites with tutorials and forums that cater specifically to what you want to learn.

That's kinda vague...
If you want to play with computer hardware, go to Radio Shack and get one of those kits where you can build 30 different computer circuits.
If you want to program, learn about VBScript. It is on every Windows computer and costs nothing to try.
