that notion came from Carl Sagan, the author of the novel "Contact" that was later made into a movie starring Jodie Foster. Now in the book what he actually said was "we are made of starstuff". He meant that we are made of what stars are made of, as is anything else in the universe. Meaning we all things in the universe are made of basic chemical or even atomical components that are common to everything in the most basic level. It was not meant to be perceived as "if i cut my arm off and grind it up to very small pieces it will turn into space dust".

The simplest element in the universe is hydrogen. Stars shine because of the fusion of hydrogen into helium. Our sun is dong this right now. Eventually, hydrogen is all used up and the star evolves into fusing helium nuclei. All the non-man-made elements on our periodic table were formed inside stars or some stellar process, such as a nova or a supernova. So, all the atoms of the elements in your body and in everything you see were first created inside stellar furnaces. Through evolution, these elements have become, in the right combinations, cells. And, those cells through time and more evolution formed organisms So, we are indeed made of star stuff.

Saying that we are made of spacedust is a reference to every element coming from stars.
At one point, every element on earth was fused in a star, which then blew up, and sent its material into space. Alot of that 'space dust' came together and formed Earth and the other planets. We are made from the materials here on Earth, which came from 'space dust'. Thus, we are made of 'space dust'.
Every element heavier than hydrogen is fused together either in a star, or when a star blows up (nova or supernova).

We are not actually made of space 'dust', rather, the particles which make up the atoms of our bodies was floating about in space at some point, as stars, nebulae, and such.

Yes we are all made up out of space dust and there are several forces keeping us together, such as the weak and strong nuclear forces and gravity to name a few.

If we are all made from space dust ORIGINALLY then thats a creation we formed into. Reactions occured and space dust changed into something else, it was not space dust, no more.

We are not made of dust that's clumped together, we're made of space dust that's been recycled into cells.

it is not thoughts of course - most humans would not exist in that case.
get a physics textbook and read about electrons, atoms and molecules.
