We have several Chinese buffets in town that assign a waiter/waitress to each table to bus the used dishes and keep the beverage glasses filled. Even though we get our own food from the buffet tables, we always leave a tip. Does anyone do the same?

most people dont' realize that even at buffet places, they are still getting paid 2-3 dollars an hour. I've worked at one! I depended on tips. I didn't expect much, 2-3 dollars was expected, 5 dollars was great, and 10 dollars felt like I won the lottery! but you tend to get more tables as well b/c people eat faster. So yes, please tip if you get good service! I was even known to refill customer's plates for them! Now THAT is service!

Please tip, they are working for that, and it's not as easy as you think!

yes. $2-$4.00. Only 1 time we did not leave a tip. Lets just say we never returned to this particular buffet. Found a great chinese buffet on 4th st in Allentown Pa. The best around.

I always do leave a tip, everywhere. Waiters/Waitresses only get paid around $2-$3 an hour. And they live off tips. Think about it.. how much food does a regular restraunt waiter/waitress bring to you? Seriously like a salad/appetizer and a main course. And you still tip them. Ive had horrible drink & food service at an upscale restraunt and still left.. something.. They only time I have never tipped is at hibachi. (where they cook in front of you). The lady COMPLETELY ingored our table. We had to ask another waitress for drink and sauce refills. It was horrific.

Yes, you are supposed to leave a tip for the removal of the dishes and refilling of the glasses. Also I'm sure if you had a problem, like something on the buffet wasn't fresh, they would have assisted and that also deserves a tip.

I tip good 15%, 20% if it truly is a nicer eating place or the provider or connection with server is above effortless. I artwork difficult for my money and particularly resent wanting to tip when I basically paid a incredible markup for the food and $a million.fifty 9 - $2.09 for a drink, per individual. Buffets, I particularly resent tipping when I did each and every thing for myself. For that, they could have make the replenish center available to me, and that i could have executed that myself additionally and saved $3 - $5. however, I tip. much less for buffets, yet i'm going to tip. extra often than not i come across myself attracted to sturdy food this is taken to-flow or is a non-tipping environment. based on the value of beverages for my family contributors and the top, I keep $10 basically off that.

If they do a good job of clearing away the dishes when you're finished with them and the keep your beverages filled, then yes, I would leave them a tip. They are providing a service.
If they just stand there and watch you eat, then no, don't leave anything.

I always leave them a few dollars since they do bring us refills on our drinks and clear away the dirty dishes, but I do not tip them 15-20 percent of our bill like I would at a sit down restaurant. It's common courtesy IMHO.

We always leave a tip too. I've noticed that most of the other people do the same. The tip I leave depends on how quickly the refills come.

It depends, if they go above and beyond and keep the table cleared, the glasses filled and if they are extremely nice and if we have the extra cash then yeah, bottom line it is your money and you can tip whoever you want and I am sure that they appreciate it.
