...actually it is based on the guy who Judas Priest recruited to replace Rob Halford when he left the band. He was a guy in some local Judas Priest cover band, that they decided to use.
Apparently, the experiment lasted about one album, and one tour. However, some one felt the need to make a film about this relative speck on the history of music.

Rockstar is a piece of fiction. The songs are written for it not based on any bands. It has about as much to do with Wylde as it does with Marky Mark and the funky Bunch. He just had the right image for the movie. Zakk is a pure metal guitarist and not the screaming 80s hair bands. He's a living legend. i think he did the movie to give it the bad *** image.
