The songs and dances are sharply done, the theme is that you can be yourself and your friends will support you - it is ok to be different than what others expect.
Plus the cast of kids is cute as they come. What more can you want?

I don't know...both of my younger sisters love it. It baffles me. The cute, perky Disney sweethearts deal with their emotional and relationship problems by coordinated dancing and singing with voices so high they can shatter glass at forty paces. As usual, the "underdog" couple comes out on top. My friend, an avid theatre geek, cannot even hear about the movie without involuntarily retching. Me neither. The renaissance of theatre, this ain't.

It's actually a good movie. I mean, not the most clever plot, but the musical numbers are definitely entertaining. And I know lots of people who are not little kids (including myself) that like that movie.

My girls, ages 9 and 10, love it. Their music/drama teacher is putting togather her rendition of it for the upcoming school year.

My daughter is 8 and loves it. It is a really good teenie boopper movie and soundtrack. We've watched it together a couple of times...it is like a young Grease. (Which I loved.)

My son is 5 and he's crazy about it. I don't know why, but it's better than some of the other movies out there
