No, but BMW do use the 1.4 litre Toyota diesel engine in the Mini. Insiders have speculated that this deal is to come to an end in 2008 and BMW will then use a PSA-Ford sourced diesel engine in the next generation Mini. BMW's existing joint development of the petrol engine with PSA is believed to be a contributing factor to the decision to drop the Toyota-supplied diesel for the next Mini.

BMW - Bavarian Motor Works is based out of Germany and produce more of a Higher End Car.
Toyota Motors _ Is Based out of Japan...with Factories in North America & Canada & Europe.
They are totally seperate Companies. Both producing very Good products.
Toyota offers cars & SUV's to most income levels.
BMW cars are directed to the Middle class and Higher Income levels.
But with Lexus...Toyota offers a very good products and are strong compitition to BMW....good news to consumers!

Toyota's high-end brand is Lexus; Lexus was designed to compete in the same segment of the luxury car market as BMW. BMW (Bavarian Motor Works) is a self-sustaining German luxury brand. Lucky thing they weren't part of British Leyland! :)
To Nigel J: I know what BMW truly stands for, and its impressive history in aircraft engineering...it's simply that no one outside of the BMW fancy really cares to pronounce the complex German title. Bavarian Motor Works is the closest English translation--and it works. REMEMBER: No one likes a Holier-than-Thou German car snob. ;)

Damn, What a bunch of posers.....they don't even know what BMW stands for and if they truly owned one the books you get with your car state what it does actually mean.
BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) is its current name NOT Bavarian Motor works, this is an uneducated misleading title. BMW was initially called BFW (Bayerische Flugzeug-Werk) and was change to BMW on jult 21, 1917.
I truly enjoy people sprouting rubbish with such authority, please read your BMW documentation if you really have some or goto the BMW websites.
