Don't sleep more than 8 hours in a day. The more you lay around the more tired you get and it's the reason you have a headache. Eat a balanced diet, too. This is something you're probably sick of hearing but it's important for energy.

There are a number of things it could be I would consider trying before or even around the time you see your doc about it.
1. Try vitamin B12. This vitamin helps regulate your body and how it uses and makes energy. It helps me.
2. Try a new mattress, a supporting pillow etc. You may be in bed for eight hours, but not sleeping the whole way through. Your body may be waking up in the middle of the night from discomfort.
3. You may be over sleeping. Try an hour or two less.
4. It could be your diet. You may be neglecting your body's need for fuel.
The only way for sure you will know is to go to the Doc.

Hi, I'm always tired too! :)
This has affected my entire life. I used to get so tired at college that I would weep, it's spooky to get that tired.
But when I have energy, boy do I have energy too.
I have looked into this a lot:
a) B-vitamin deficiency. Helped me a tiny bit. Everyone has different levels of everything, mine was suspected low because I was on the low end of the scale, but it didn't REALLY do the trick.
b) Iron deficiency. See above.
c) Migraine. The tiredness leading into headache thing is a classic migraine thing. This helped a lot. I DO have migraine. You feel kinda funny at first and you say "hey, why do I feel strange?"...then about 4 hours later BOOM!...sucker! It's there. It takes ages for you to associate the two feelings, even today sometimes I ask myself this when I feel tired. You don't really tend to associate the two....
I manage the migraine now...but I'm still tired...
This lead me to look elsewhere again....
d) Diabetes/Diabetic tendency. My father always felt he was diabetic. The doctors always said "no". Well he knew better didn't he? By the time he had full-scale diabetes he was severely damaged....and you know what? a couple of years later they changed the definition to include lower blood sugar levels and other "signs" to include in the diagnosis. Too late for him...he had, quite frankly, a horrible end. I tried to lose weight using SlimFast. I put on weight very easily even with a sensible diet. Each can of SlimFast made me almost pass out, never took that much sugar in one hit (even though it's low calorie). Changing my lifestyle based on this produced considerable results.
e) Sleep Snoring/Sleep Apnea. I think this could be a marginal factor in my tiredness also.
Judging by my lack of energy and bursts of super energy, I'd wager on the diabetic tendency thing. I asked the doctors and they said "no"....just like they did with dad.
I saw him go. I ain't gonna take the word of a Merc driving golfer who dabbles in patronizing for fees.
Follow a diabetes plan and see if it helps.
(PS..extra sleep = headache...COULD be...extra hours without water and sugar...brings on normal headache...triggers migraine...=superheadache .... seems to be how it works with me. If I drink loads of water when I feel funny the resulting headache is more hamburger than Supersize BigMac in stature)

It's quality over quantity; you could have a sleep disorder (like sleep apnea, etc) which leads to a poor quality of sleep. Talk to your doctors about this. You may also be lacking in certain vitamins (B6-B12) or minerals (iron) which can also cause fatigue. As for the headache, I've had the same thing happen, and have never gotten an answer to that problem.

i'm having similar trouble, it can be difficult getting homework done, and out of bed to go to work
i find avoiding caffienated drinks helps if you can manage it (save the buzz for when you actually need it, it's sharper then and your body doesn't get inured to it or go into a slump when the stuff wears off), ditto sugary foods, and drinking plenty of other fluids esp. plain water helps a great deal, though it's by no means a cure. you can kind of work on the GI diet system to try and keep your glucose levels balanced which may also help, and certainly will keep diabetes, or diabetes-aping symptoms at bay (here's a fun fact - too much coffee can make you seem diabetic, as it not only works as a diuretic (makes you pee more and get dehydrated), but also interferes with insulin production)

Are you getting enough exercise? You could be getting too much sleep, some people don't need eight hours.
Do you have any big problems going on in your life, that may be causing you to feel sluggish?
Have your thyroid and iron checked, you can have an overactive or underactive thyroid gland.
Take up a new hobby, and see if that doesn't help, or try bellydancing.

I used to be like that all the time. The trick for me was exercise. Also, if you drink coffee or caffeinated drinks that may be making it worse, when your body is reliant on too many things to get yourself going it produces less of the natural things you need and makes it so you need more and more of the artificial stuff. So, main point is exercise. It seems like you will be even more tired and you will in the very beginning, but after the initial soreness you will feel a lot more awake and alert...it worked for me, my boyfriend, mom and her friend! if you arent doing this already it will help a lot!

There could be a few reasons. You are not eating right. You are not getting enough sleep. Your bed may be wearing out and you might need to change the mattress. Mainly it's a bad diet and poor rest. Evaluate the options I gave you and if one or more apply, take the necessary measures. It might be in your best interest to add a daily multi-vitamin to your diet. Hope this helps!!

You could be dehydrated or anemic. Eat iron rich foods and drink plenty of water. Also B Vitamins give you natural energy.
Oversleeping will give you a headache.
