Everytime I ask this question, I always get a biased reply:

What is the true difference between Democrats and Republicans?

I am not sure on the difference, but all I know is that it is slowly ripping the country apart. Other countries do not have this problem, but American somewhat does, and that's why I'd like to know the difference between a Republican and a Democrat without a biased response.

I think Nickster97 is gonna get 10 points, but you, JFra472449, have already gotten 10 points on another question similar to mine as I have found out, so I will pick Nickster97 in 24 hours time. Both of you have the exceptional answers I was looking for, as well as the other responders.

In order to understand the differences between the two parties, you would have to understand the history of the two parties. The Democratic party has been around the longest and has had the largest influence in passing the New Deal Legislation proposed by Franklin Roosevelt which you may or may not know as social legislation or Socialism. The Democratic party has always stood for the common man against the abuses of Corporations in the workplace and has looked to Government to help regulate the activities of those persons and government that abuse and opress others.

Republicans have always looked to limit Government so that business and people do not have to live under a tyranical Government that opresses the people by overburdening the people with legislation.

While these two opposing idealisms would seem to work very well together in a political environment, these ideals have been blurred lately. The reason for this is not because of a basic problem with Republicans or Democrats, but rather our social law form and our debt system of money. What you are experiencing when you believe that our country is being ripped apart, is the weight of our monetary system that is starting to crash down on us. Neither side can help what has been placed in 1913, and all they can do is put bandaid after bandaid on the problems until our country will eventually crash under the weight of its own burdens.

For more information go to Wikpedia and read up on New Deal Legislation, Republican Party, Democratic Party and Federal Reserve System to understand how each operates.

Hope that helps your question.

There is no significant difference. The whole idea is whats called a false dillemma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_Dilemma
The "Elites" or the Rich white men pretend that they are arguing only so that they make so much noise that nobody else ever gets
to have any kind of say. Both sides are just a way of polarizing the country over dumb stuff. Both sides are only about getting people to vote for evil rich white men instead of people who would do any good. The whole thing is one massive con job. The beginning of wisdom is to understand this. 1 percent of the population pretends to be in an argument with itself, and manipulates the rest of us to be pawns in that argument.
No matter who wins the little battles, the little guys loose and the big guys stay on top, in control, and in power.

In general, republicans want a smaller federal government with less controls and support on the people while the democrats want a larger federal government with more controls and support on the people. Republicans usually want a larger military while Democrats want smaller. Republicans want it to be closer to biblical ideas (though this does not mean they want it to be religious, just the values passed through Christianity) and Democrats don't usually care if it goes along biblical values. Those are some major differences.

Actually I am slightly biased. but this is the answer I gave to another question that was similar.

There are a few differences in the democrats and republicans. They are focused mainly on responsibilities of government, taxation and economic stimulus, focus on where our resorces need to be spent, and how trade should be aproached in relation to US interest. Other social issues have been tied to certain parties such as abortion, envioroment, gun control to name a few. The social issues are mainly for debate perposes in the legislative branches because within both parties you will find division in these areas. I know democrats who are pro-life and I know republicans who believe in strict gun control.

As to roles of government, and this is very plain to see between the parties, the republicans believe in very little responsablity of the government to interfere with the daily lives of the people. So since the government can do so little, it should be allowed to do what little it can without question. The democrats believe that the government has an obligation to insure its citizens are safe and to do this the government has much power to do what ever it wants. So since the government has so much power, it must have a bunch of hoops and hurdles to go through to make sure the people are safe gaurded from abuse from the government. A prime example of this today is the wire tap debate.

Taxation and economic stimulus is a HUGE difference between the parties. This is where you hear republicans are for big business and the democrats are for the working man. The republicans in this department go for the trickledown theory which says that if you give tax breaks to the rich then you have reinvestment in the company and inovative technology research. Both of which lead to new market shares and thus new jobs for the American citizen. Better products for better prices comes from research and the company having money to burn on experiments. Basically the market leads the consumer.

The democrats believe that the tax breaks need to go to the working class or trickleup if you will. Since there are so many more of them they determine what inovations need to be made. With so many people with extra money are out there, better products for better prices comes from compitition since the companies must produce to get the consumer. Inovation comes from what the buying public says it wants. New jobs for US citizens comes from increased demand on the best goods that people want. The consumer leads the market.

Also on taxation and role of government. The republicans are big on ruged individualism and free market. They believe that if you want services you should go out and pay for them youself, in return taxes will be lower. The democrats believe that the citizens have a right to want certain services from their government, but they better be ready to pay taxes to get them.

But shoot, its getting late and I could go a long time on the different philosophies of the parties. In truth neither is 100% right or 100% wrong. Both have there places and in my opinion, it is where the country is at a certain time as to who gets into power.

Independants are normally someone who really hasn't tied themselves to any party and ran on their own accord. When they vote though, most show either republican or democratic values.

CURSES!! Spell check crapped out on this one too.

The real difference is in their ideology. It's the difference between progressive change and retrogressive change. Republicans essentially want to return the country to what they consider to be a better time while Democrats are more forward looking.

In a nutshell: Democrats want people to have a dependency on government. Republicans believe in the free enterprise system and the fact that you can do anything you want.

everyone has a bias.

But there is a difference.

Republicans think that people should rely on themselves and not get government help, except businesses and the rich. That poor people are lazy and could do better if they would work harder.

Democrats believe that the government should help and raise up our weakest citizens, and that the richer people should pay some of their money back into the system that gave it to them.
