Ok, so most of us agree that the pentagon's statement is bullsh**. I just wanted to make a comment to those who are pissed at the guy who posted this ques. Given that medically homosexuality hasn't been counted as a disorder since 1972 -- and hundreds of studies have shown it is not a disorder -- I pity the Pentagon, but they have to justify the policy that we have of not allowing out-gays to serve their country. That becomes increasingly difficult as very close to all of our allies have allowed military service by homosexuals for decades now.

Unfortunately for the Pentagon, declaring something to be factual when you are not in agreement with any of the science does not make it factual -- it just makes you look stupid.

Homosexuality isn't a mental illness or a communicable disease, it isn't something you can turn on or off, it is a sexual orientation that you have built into your genetic makeup. Everyone has different preferences, don't criticize someone for liking brunettes over blonds, what does it matter to you anyways?!?

Of course if it is a mental disorder, then when are they going to send me my monthly disability check, and handicapped parking sticker!!!

I had read that as well. I think it's absolutely embarrassing what the US is doing to homosexuals. Mentally ill? The idea that it's a mental issue may not bother me as much as the ill part.

It was already disproved years ago. Next they'll be telling everyone that when we see the flash we should all duck under our desks for protection. Homosexuality is a genetic trait that has recently been discovered and is still being studied. No medication has ever affected how gay I am.

i'm not homosexual but i do believe that it is an extreme form of hermaphidite. it's like all there body prts are in the right place except what they like sexually. Especially when they say ex. i feel like a boy in a girls body or vice versa. plus i think its none of anybodys business what anybody like sexually. if this was truly a free country this would not be an issue.

No homos are not mentally ill. they just prefer different things and should be accepted just like heterosexuals. Christians conservatives just like to stick their noses in other people's lives.
