Also, were you ever a victim of a school bus bully? What did you do?

Bullies are expert at doing their bullying without being seen. They will find ways around the security cameras.

We need to establish credibility with our children so that they will trust us and report bullying to us.

I was never a victim of a school bus bully but, as a school administrator received reports of the incidents. The bully lost his busing privileges. (It didn't work to have him sit up front next to the driver because the driver had other things to do - namely driving the bus.)

We made sure the parents of the victims were filled in and we instituted a program at the grade level to teach students how not to be victims and to ensure that the teachers were watchful for other bullying behaviours. We had to continue the program the entire time the bully was in the school.

No, it does not and it was not meant for that either. The surveillance cameras on the bus which using typical mobile surveillance DVR system is to monitor for possible accidents/emergency. Also it was implemented as a purpose of watching the driver for whether or not they follow the procedure for driving over the railroad(Due to the devastating accident of train+bus in past) Some has capability to wirelessly transmit video through wireless Internet connection/satellite, but due to the cost typically people just installs mobile DVR surveillance with removable HD.
Nope, never been bullied.

I wasn't ever bullied on a bus, but one time a kid took my lunch box away, opened it, and licked the inside of my thermos for meaness.Surveillance cameras won't stop it. And what can the bus driver really do? If he tells the bully to move and the bully refuses or gets hateful with the driver, the driver can't forcefully remove him from his seat or then he will be in trouble. so much has been made about drivers that now they're afraid to confront riders about their behavior. I remember being in school in the 70's and 80's and our bus driver could take us back to school and paddle the kids that were acting up right then. It happened once. But nothing like serious hitting ever went on. Kids will fight, it's part of growing up especially boys.

No, because some kids are just going to be bullies no matter what measures are taken to keep kids safe on school buses. Some kids would not even pay attention to the cameras. No.

Yes I think it would help. Bus drivers don't usually do anything. Plus if the bus driver helps kids the other kids make fun of them for being 'teacher's pet' anyway. A separate person coming in later to review tapes on a regular basis would be better.

Let them fight their own bullies I say. We try to coddle kids these days. Then when they leave their padded nest they are totally unprepared for the harsh reality that the world is not going to care for them. I was a really skinny kid. I had long frizzy red hair and braces. Of course I got made fun of. There was one boy who used to call me the crypt keeper. I learned to have a quick whit so I always had a good comeback. I learned to have thicker skin. I learned that his opinion did not matter. I had friends and they didn't care about that bully so why should I. Yea, I cried a lot in those days but I am a stronger woman because of it. We con only hide our babies from the real world while we hold them in the womb, after that they are in gods hands.
Just my opinion................

Are you that much of a paranoid ideologue that you associate ALL negative behavior with liberals? Seriously, you're reasoning is absurd. You honestly think that since liberals are in charge of school (which in itself is stupid since school boards are elected positions) that anything that happens within the confines of a school related activity are therefore promoted by liberals. So will the act of suspending these students (which will happen) be liberal or is the berating they did on the bus liberal? They can't both be.

In some cases. But not in all. Hopefully it will help in most situations though. The idea of the cam watching the bully will deter some in that way also.
