Good question! As a resident of Hawai'i it would be difficult as most of the lands that the original Hawai'ian's had cultivated are now covered in houses, apartments and condos not to mention businesses. There would need to be much deconstruction to get the lands back. Politics would come into play as well. The red tape would probably starve some out and force others to seek life elsewhere. Most likely by private charters if we're cut off. All cars would come to a stand still and businesses would fall. There may be riots, dissent ion and anarchy for a while before things get better. There always is in cases like this. I think we can eventually survive, but how many of us will actually be there when that does happen?
Mahalos for the posting!

Given how many people live there? No. Now after 90% of them die, they could probably grow enough food to support themselves. But this is true for most countries. Rarely is a country self sufficient even when it comes to basic necessities.

Hi Ichi,

Yes, but you'd have to nix automobiles and significantly reduce electricity expenditures. The population would go through a steep decline.

There would be an "adjustment". But the ancient Hawaiians did Okay there once, and now there are additional food species there.

What? You mean AFTER it's economy collapses and we are forced to carpet bomb the entire island chain? That's craziness.
