If you are talking about Ben E King, no he did not die. Oasis is still alive and so are some of the Beatles- I found like 4 songs with this title:
"Stand by Me", a 1961 song by Ben E. King.
"Stand by Me", a 1997 song by Oasis.
"Stand by Me", a 2006 song by Shayne Ward.
"Stand by Me", a song by The Beatles.

No not to my knowledge, ive checked the net he was born in 1938 and he's still alive, so no worries.
i love that song he did 'stand by me' really sweet
