The only way without taking it to a store would be to remove the outer casing of the vcr and manually release the catch that lets it eject or cutting and removing the tape (the actual tape, not the whole cassette) so it will free up. I hope you didn't mean the tape breaking not the vcr.....

did you try turining off the vcr and then truning it back on; if it didn't work then there could either be something stuck inside besides the tape or the film of the video is stuck inside and the only way to get it out would be to pull it and probably ruin the film, sorry!

Some models have an automatic reset, if yours does, then unplugging it for a few minutes should do the trick.
If the tape doesn't pop out, then unplug it again and take the top off, then gently push through the cassette. More than likely it is a tiny rubber band that is causing your trouble. It may have broken or have lost its elasticity. Replace the rubber band and you should be good as new.

the tape is pretty much crunched up. to save it. unplug the VCR, then get a screw driver the one with the *. unscrew the four screws on the sides. then take the top panel off. look inside to see where the take is caught. you might be able to get the tape untaggled.
you could also take it to a repair shop, (it'll cost you a bit)

turn your vcr on. open the slot where you put the tape in and feel around. it may be croooked. try to get it flat and then push eject. if that doesn't work take it to a repair shop or a video store.

Sometimes it helps to unplug the vcr and let it rest for awhile.
