To answer your question, you do not have to be invited to visit Lagos. I think that it is great that you want to visit Lagos despite all the negativity associated with the state. Lagos has its safe and unsafe places just like any other city in the world. Some parts of Lagos are very beautiful and some seem impoverished. It depends on where you go.

Since Lagos isn't exactly a tourist destination, and since you're asking about entry requirements I'll assume you don't have family there, I have to ask... WHY on earth to Lagos?! Do you have a friend in the oil industry that have invited you to visit? Or, my hunch, you've been contacted by the late Barrister Joe Eboh to bring money so they can release a fund of secret cash to you? If it's the latter, then it's a scam, and well-known. See 419eater.com. Best of luck on your trip to Lago.

Yes, you have to be invited by a friend or company to come to Nigeria. With the invitation, you will have to get to a Nigeria embassy in your country for a visa before travelling down

You better be careful...and make sure you are in touch with the right people for your trip

Wishing you all the best

No you just need a visa. I am completely offended. I mean D.C. is not save niether are any of the major cities in America. I am Nigerian and any non ignorant person would tell you that Lagos is like every other big city in the world no lies.

I do share the sentiments of the two previous writers. However, to answer your question, yes you do need an entry visa to enter Nigeria. (Exception: citizens in the west african sub-region do not require a visa).
