In grades 9 and 10, there are classes that you have to take - they provide 'credits' - you have to have a minimum number of credits in different subjects, to graduate. For example, in my high school we had to have 4 credits of english to graduate. A single class might be worth one credit for the whole year. I think I only needed two math credits. So four semesters, (two years) cover that requirement. So you'll start out taking maybe basic math or basic algebra, english, social studies, and a gym class of some sort. In 11 & 12 grade, you'll have finished most of your minimums, so you get to pick cool classes like woodshop, welding, cooking, computers, etc. If you are preparing for college, or you just plain want to learn, you will go above your minimums - like take harder math and science classes. Somewhere along the way you will have to take a Government or Civics class that teaches you about, Government!

my class list included: english 9, honors english 10, honors english 11 and AP english if it is offered at the schools....if not then 4 years of regular english, atleast two foreing language credits, atleast 3 science credits...in which I took biology, chemisty and human anatomy, atleast three years of social studies....as to which I took honors history, AP US history and world regions...basically dealing with different countries and next year I am taking government.....and then your math credits.....algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, and then trigonemetry or calculas and then you still have your health credit and your physical fitness credit....and of course last but not least your elective classes in which you choice to take whatever you want. If that doesn't help you should go and talk to your parents and or guidance counselor and they will help you make the decision and your plans for high school.
