Cockroaches eat human food and supplies and contaminate them with their saliva and excrement. They also leave a very bad smell where they live. They can transport germs on their feet from garbage and bathrooms to contaminate clean areas. Some people (especially children) are severely allergic to shed cockroach skin cells.
Roaches prefer carbohydrates but will eat almost any organic product or waste, including paint, glue and soap. Most roaches in a building are living on food debris, garbage, pet foo, snacks and food supplies that are not properly cleaned up or stored.

Cockroaches usually eat smaller bugs like flies. The may eat bread crumbs or other human food scraps, but that's just about it.
**Fun fact: A roach can live up to 3 days with it's head off. Ew.**

well, i worked at a place that actually had a really bad roach problem, and before they got the exterminators there we were the exterminators. We would see them grabbing crumbs, other bugs, pretty much anything in sight. Make sure if any food you have has come into contact with a roach you get rid of it, because they are known to carry nasty bacteria and can get you sick.

ANYTHING! You can use this trait to exploit them if you have them in your house. Just sprinkle some boric acid behind the fridge and in a few cabinets. They will find it and eat it. The boric acid dissolves their stomachs and they die.
Remember when I said they eat anything, well that includes other dead roaches. So when they die from the boric acid, other roaches die when they eat the dead bodies.
After a week or so you will not see anymore roaches in your house. As the eggs they left behind hatch, the small roaches will fall pray to the boric acid and never reach adulthood, thus ending their stay in your home! Trust me, it worked in my house when I was a kid and a friend of mine in college tried it at her parents house and it worked too! She was shocked
You can get boric acid and the pharmacy, or if you buy those roach powders, you can look at the label and see its merely 100% boric acid!
