It's 100% marketing. The ribs are so friggin' small neither partner can feel them. In order for a girl to feel them they would have to be much more raised. Like 1/8 inch.

That mess feels like sandpaper. think of it this way, try shoving one of those ribbed vacuum tubes in and out of your butt real fast... see how it feels. honstly, it has the oppisite affect on me, cant "stay lubed" with the ribbed. Get the smooth ones, they feel the best.
