Remakes? Good grief, I hope not. I like the older films because the stories are better; SFX are just flash, don't you realise that? Movies are supposed to be about narrative and characterisation-- that's why the original trilogy will always be better, no matter how elaborate the visuals of the prequels.
That attitude is also an insult to the years of trailblazing by effects artists who created amazing things out of almost nothing, developing new techniques that paved the way for the digital spectacles of today.
Graphics-wise, computers still couldn't do much 20-30 years ago, so people used minatures, makeup and photographic tricks to create special effects. Guys like Dennis Muren and John Dykstra did a damn good job, and part of their legacy is that the Stars Wars films, like 2001, are among the few sci-fi movies that aren't really dated.

I hope not. I'm very nostalgic about the first 3 because they were done when I was in my teens and 20s growing up. I wouldn't change a thing about them. At the time, The Empire Strikes Back was my favorite movie for a long long time. I loved the romance between Hans Solo and Princess Leia. I really adored Princess Leia and wish I could have looked like her. All the girls did!
I think the last 3 recent Star Wars movies were crappy. They are a disservice to the whole Star Wars collection and will never compare to the first three. The actors/actresses were not at all as good (with the exception of Ewan McGregor) and all the graphics and animation took away from the story line. It made it too busy and distracting. You should have been around when I was growing up and you would understand the appreciation for wanting to keep the first 3 just the way they are.

The original 3 films were already digitally re-mastered, but I would expect that the next three inthe series of nine are more likely to be done.
Perhaps some serious digitalizing on the originals and a rerelease, but no I don't see it, too much tradition ( they started it all)

Hi paintballchase.
I know that Lucas plans to release the old trilogy in 3D, and the way it originally was shown in theaters (w/o the special graphics he added in later, such as the scene w/ Jabba and Han in Episode IV, or the extra X fighters, or the extra stromtroopers.

doub it. But they could film the rest of the story, George Lucas already has written episode 7,8, and 9. They are about Han Solo's and Princess Leia sons.
