I'm in the eighth grade so I'm used to this stuff.
Wear something casual if it's casual. Go and wear some nice jeans and a cute top. Probably a short-sleeved top because once you start dancing it gets super hot.
If you get asked out with a boy, go with him, make sure to spend some time with your friends though too. If you don't get asked out, definatly go with your friends. When I was in the 6th grade and went by myself it totally blowed. It was sooo boring. Also when your dancing.. Let loose. Don't hold back, show them what you got. If that means downing a huge pixie stick before to be able to dance, then do it! It will be a ton more fun if you dance!!
I wouldn't buy your outfit now though, because what people wear in Jr. High and what people wear in Elementary school are two very very different things.

wear casual...duh. Something you'll be comfortable in. Dances aren't really a big deal. Even in eighth grade only a few people ventured far enough to actualy "go with a boy". Go by yourself or with your friends (this is basically the same thing anyway. You're meeting them there aren't you?)

I think your too young to be on this site and its nothing to worry about... Since I'm a guy I wore a sweater vest ( I go to private School ) I did break the rules I was supopsed to tuck in the shirt but i let it hang out so i would look cool... !

Casual dance? Just wear some jeans and a cute top. You can either go it alone or with your friends, but you'd probably have more fun with your friends.
