well, not really installing...more that stuff after. I put it on my iPod, and is rebooted fine. the apple picture came up, then the language selection, then the menu. I want to install games, and a few video clips. Linux already wiped my iPod, so i have all my 2GB free at the time. Also, will it hurt linux if i update my music/pix/podcasts AFTER i install linux? i don't think i know what i'm doing. the linux page was NOT AT ALL helpfull.

Perhaps the linux page wasn't helpful, and I expect the Apple page will be even less helpful, but the tech support department at Apple, particularly the programmers that specialise in Ipod software will be enourmously helpful.
Is it possible that, because Ipod doesn't normally run on linux, the programs that operate the multimedia features of your Ipod are failing from a breakdown in internal communication with the system platform (which you changed). Perhaps when you change the platform, you also need to change the operational software to suit, which I expect you haven't done (although you mentioned nothing about it either way).
Contact Apple via their national call centre and explain your situation in detail, and don't object too strongly when they tell you that the only way you are going to get a stable system is by restoring the original platform OS.

Apple Ipods do not run Linux its too big of an operating system with extra unwanted features and price to run on a Music Device.
If you want music and video, then look for RCA Lycra.
