being a pontiac technician, the most common place for a leak is from the condensor. they crack at the mount on the lower right hand(passenger) side. the new one does not have a bolt hole on this mount to prevent repeat failures. a quick dye test can verify this.

because of the type of car you have(lumina) you'd better seek a professional because anything you receive here is worthless until you get a confirmation on what problems you are having. for instance how do you know you are leaking freon?does it blow warm or do you know you are leakingr134a?if it blows warm you might not be leaking at all...get it checked...if you've had it checked what were the results? any certified a/c tech will tell you(if they've checked)what the source of the problem is.if it was unattainable-very common-bring it back to the same place- & have them leak check it-assuming they put tracer dye when you had it checked-that will tell them where the leak is sourcing from initially. it's good to know if there's a history to certain cars for certain problems and that actually eleviates alot of truobleshooting for the technician & gets you back your car but.....is that the right solution for your car with this problem, i'd hate to find out after major a/c service that it wasn't good luck & get it checked with tracer dye......by the way chevy lumina vans & pontiac transports are of the same type of a/c.

Probably a bad line. If you put die in it, you still may not see it. If it escapes as a gas, the die will not show up. Look for oily residue or a hose that has been rubbing. If there is a chafe, most likely that is where it is leaking.
